Andrew's practice focuses on insurers in the professional indemnity (traditional lines) and aviation markets, advising on both policy and third party claims. He also has experience in advising and appearing for professionals and aviation operators in disputes with their governing regulatory authorities.
Andrew advises insurers, insureds and brokers on all aspects of insurance law, from coverage and indemnity advice to proactively investigating and resolving claims. He specialises in assisting professionals including lawyers and doctors, and general aviation operators and those supporting them in professional indemnity claims. He also acts on behalf of his clients in regulatory disputes including investigations, disciplinary proceedings and appeals.
Andrew works with domestic and international insurers who write risks in the professional indemnity (traditional lines), aviation and medical practice markets, their insureds, insurance brokers and adjusters.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Queensland University of Technology.
He is the current president of the Queensland chapter of the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (ALAANZ), and a member of ALAANZ's national council.
Before joining Sparkes in 2015, Andrew worked at other Brisbane law firms and in house for the legal team of a medical indemnity insurer.
A fan of science fiction and pop culture, outside of work Andrew enjoys watching mind-numbing popcorn movies and reading nothing that could ever be considered a literary classic. He has a large collection of cookbooks, in no large part due to his belief that if what he cooks does not resemble the picture next to the recipe, the fault must lie with the book.
