Sparke Helmore Lawyers is thrilled to announce it has won both of the awards for which it was nominated at the Australasian Law Awards held at The Star Sydney last night—GlobalX Law Firm of the Year and AIG Insurance Law Firm of the Year. The firm was nominated in these categories in 2016 and 2017, winning the Insurance Specialist Firm award for the past two years. In addition, the firm congratulates AIA Australia & New Zealand for winning the Sparke Helmore Insurance In-house Team of the Year award.

"We are very proud to win these significant accolades amidst increasingly strong competition. Being named Law Firm of the Year is a testament to our outstanding people, our legal expertise and the quality of the work our firm delivers across all practice areas to our clients. We should particularly recognise our Insurance team who, in winning Insurance Specialist Firm of the Year for the third time in a row, provide a superb and consistent demonstration of market leadership", said Phillip Salem, the firm's National Managing Partner.

Commercial Insurance National Practice Group Leader Chris Wood said, "I'm very proud to lead a team of excellent, committed lawyers and support staff who put our clients at the centre of everything we do. Winning this award is acknowledgement of the hard work and innovative thinking that we bring to assist our clients with their legal needs. Congratulations also to AIA Australia & New Zealand for being named Sparke Helmore Insurance In-house Team of the Year. We're proud to have sponsored this award again, which recognises the energy and hard work of in-house insurance teams."

The Australasian Law Awards recognise leading firms and in-house teams in Australia and New Zealand for their outstanding achievements in the legal profession throughout the year. Winners are decided by a panel of independent judges who assess nominees on their client service and demonstrated expertise in their practice areas during the 2017 calendar year.
