The evaluation team considers major transactions nominees had played a role in, contributions they made to the culture of the legal industry and various initiatives they were involved in, along with the recommendations made by colleagues and superiors.

Christopher Peppel, Associate | Brisbane | Commercial Insurance
Chris works for both domestic and international insurers across a broad range of areas, including personal injury and property liability claims. During his career, Christopher has developed extensive experience representing both corporations and insurers defending claims pursuant to the PIPA and the WCRA. He advises on all aspects of claims management including claims investigations, liability and quantum, and is experienced in conducting both informal and formal settlement conferences and advocacy work. Christopher takes a considered approach in achieving the best possible outcome for each claim while also working closely with clients to achieve their long-term strategic goals.
Jonathan Crass, Associate | Melbourne | Government
Jonathan joined Sparke in 2020 and has broad experience across administrative and commercial law. Prior to joining Sparke, Jonathan spent over four years in London working in-house at a UK-based global satellite telecommunications provider, and prior to that within a British multi-national transport group. In his capacity as in-house lawyer, Jonathan was responsible for advising on issues relating to international trade sanctions, he also advised the commercial and executive teams on a variety of legislative and regulatory issues, including on the operation and interpretation of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK), data protection, privacy and intellectual property issues.
Rachel Walls, Senior Associate | Canberra| Commercial Insurance
Rachel is an experienced lawyer and litigator who advises on major litigation claims for the Commonwealth in Federal, NSW and Victorian jurisdictions. She has particular experience dealing with institutional abuse matters and intentional tort claims, including false imprisonment, malicious prosecution and misfeasance in public office. Before joining Sparke, Rachel was a Senior Legal Officer in the Civil Litigation & Compensation Section of Home Affairs, where she managed the conduct of civil litigation proceedings in all jurisdictions on behalf of the Department
