Sparke Helmore Lawyers is delighted to announce that last night Shannon Platt was named "Intellectual Property Partner of the Year" at the 2016 Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards. The Awards ceremony was held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, with over 400 people from across the legal industry attending the event.

"Congratulations to Shannon Platt for winning Intellectual Property Partner of the Year in this year's Partner of the Year Awards. This award is a testament to Shannon's hard work and dedication to her team and clients," said Phillip Salem, National Managing Partner.

Nominees for the Intellectual Property Partner of the Year were judged on their contribution to the growth and financial performance of their practice group and firm, their leadership in shaping the culture and strategy of their practice group and their outstanding work in the practice area during the 2015 financial year.

"Thank you to Lawyers Weekly, my outstanding team at Sparke Helmore and the fantastic Partnership who have supported a fledgling IP Team that has flourished under their fine leadership and support", said Shannon.

The other finalists in the intellectual property category this year were Anita Cade, Ashurst; Gary Cox, Wrays; Katrina Rathie, King & Wood Mallesons; Lisa Ritson, Ashurst; Melissa McGrath, DibbsBarker; Ross McFarlane, Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick; and Scott Bouvier, King & Wood Mallesons.

Shannon, National Head of Intellectual Property & Technology and Head of the Corporate Group, is on the firm's Executive Committee and is a member of two International Trade Mark Association Committees (Anticounterfeiting and ASIA Roundtable).

Partners Kerri Thomas and Carlie Holt were also finalists on the night for Insurance Partner of the Year and Workplace Relations Partner of the Year, respectively. These three nominations of our female partners are great recognition of the firm's diversity.

The Awards celebrate partners who demonstrate leadership, technical expertise, mentorship and business development skills, and acknowledge that partners determine the financial success and integrity of law firms.
