Sparke Helmore Lawyers welcomes back Chantal Tipene who is returning to the firm as a partner in the Government Group in our Sydney office. Chantal has more than 10 years' experience advising Commonwealth, state and local governments and is an Accredited Specialist in Government and Administrative Law.

"I'm delighted that Chantal is returning to us after being Deputy General Counsel at the NSW Police Force for the past three years," said Richard Morrison, Sparke Helmore's National Government Group Leader.

Chantal is taking over leadership of the Government team in Sydney from Phillip Salem as he transitions into the role of National Managing Partner in March 2016. Phillip said "I worked closely with Chantal when she was a Senior Associate in my team and I'm confident that she will be a tremendous asset to the firm and the partnership".

Chantal advises on commercial law matters (contracting, procurement and probity), administrative law including both merits review and judicial review, and statutory interpretation matters. She also advises on litigation, including solicitor advocacy, particularly in the NSW Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.

Chantal is a member of the NSW Law Society's Government and Administrative Law Committee and is also a member of the NSW Law Society's Specialist Accreditation Board. As part of her role at the NSW Police Force, Chantal was responsible for leading and providing strategic direction across the Force about its commercial and administrative law needs.
