Sparke Helmore today announced it will open an office in Darwin.

With an initial focus on commercial insurance services to government and non-government clients, the office will be led by Partner Colin Davidson. Colin is a highly-regarded insurance lawyer, with more than 23 years’ experience advising on insurance litigation including public liability, professional indemnity, property loss, fraud, statutory lines and local government. Colin will be joined initially by one lawyer. In time, the office’s offering will expand to include other business lines.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to immerse myself in the unique features of the Darwin market and to better serve and support local business growth as well as contribute to the community,” said Colin.

Sparke Helmore’s National Managing Partner Phillip Salem said, “Expanding our business into the Northern Territory has been on our strategic agenda for some time and I am delighted that we have reached this milestone of having a presence in Darwin. Our commitment to client service in the Top End recognises the fundamental importance of the region to the Australian economy and as a gateway into Asia.”

The expertise of the lawyers in residence in Darwin is backed by the strength and experience of Sparke Helmore’s national network including offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and the Upper Hunter.

The office is open from 1 August and is located at 19 Smith Street, Darwin.
