Sparke Helmore Lawyers is pleased to announce that Senior Associate Ian Bennett has been appointed to Marrickville Legal Centre's Board. The Centre is a long-standing pro bono partner of the firm, with many lawyers regularly volunteering their time to assist vulnerable and disadvantaged clients with their legal issues.

Marrickville Legal Centre's vision is to promote social justice, through the provision of free and accessible legal and related services to people who experience social and economic disadvantage. They use legal and community processes to promote an agenda of social justice and to work toward fairer legal and social outcomes for those most disadvantaged in the community. The Centre is committed to providing a wide range of services delivered in diverse ways and in cooperation with community networks and resources.

In 2016, Sparke Helmore's Sydney Workplace team was a finalist in the Justice Awards' Pro Bono Partnership Award category in partnership with Marrickville Legal Centre, HWL Ebsworth, Minter Ellison and Santone Lawyers for establishing the Employment Law Advice Clinic in 2010.
