Sparke Helmore Lawyers is a 2017 Justice Awards finalist in the Pro Bono Partnership Award category for a second consecutive year.

The firm has been nominated in partnership with Justice Connect, Clayton Utz, Hall & Wilcox, K&L Gates, King & Wood Mallesons, Lander & Rogers and Wotton + Kearney for its involvement in Justice Connect's Self-Representation Service.

The Service assists disadvantaged individuals who are unrepresented in bankruptcy, human rights, discrimination and employment cases before the Federal Court and Federal Circuit Court. Lawyers from participating firms volunteer on a regular basis to help parties understand their rights and present their case.

"We're very proud to have been involved in this outstanding initiative for the past three years," said Hannah Rose, Sparke Helmore's Head of Pro Bono & Community. "Well done to the volunteers involved—this nomination is acknowledgment of the meaningful support they give to empower unrepresented parties in their legal matters."

The Awards are an initiative of the Law and Justice Foundation of NSW, and acknowledge individuals and organisations that have improved access to justice for socially and economically disadvantaged people. The ceremony will be held at NSW Parliament House on Thursday 19 October.
