Charter Hall and Singapore's Keppel REIT have entered into a long-term commercial office space lease with Telstra. Sparke Helmore Lawyers advised Charter Hall on the agreement, which was the largest commercial leasing deal carried out in Brisbane in 2016.

The telco provider will lease 30,000 square metres of space across two properties in Brisbane's CBD-one at 275 George Street (jointly owned by Charter Hall and Keppel REIT) and the other at 69 Ann Street (owned by Charter Hall). Telstra has agreed to lease the space in the two buildings until at least 2029.

Senior Associate Borhan Borhani played a key role in the deal and said: "This is the kind of transaction that has so many subsequent positive effects. We were delighted to be involved and so pleased with the outcome."     

Property Partner Theo Casimatis added: "It is great that we were able to assist two major organisations come to a mutually beneficial long-term arrangement."
