Corporate & Commercial Group Partner Andrew White has been appointed as Chair of the Board at Sparke Helmore Lawyers. Andrew leads the firm's national Mining & Resources Service Line and the Corporate & Commercial Group in the Hunter region. He joined the firm's Board in 2016 and has been acting as Interim Chair before this appointment.
Andrew joined Sparke Helmore in 2001 has more than 25 years' experience as a lawyer in New South Wales, specialising in major projects for the mining industry. Andrew also takes an active role in pro bono and community activities—he founded the Upper Hunter Education Fund in 2008, which has provided more than $500,000 in financial and academic support to young people in the Hunter who are seeking tertiary education and might not otherwise have access to it.

Sparke Helmore Lawyers has also appointed two new Board members to work alongside Andrew in delivering the firm's 2020 strategy. Congratulations to Melbourne-based Workplace Partner Penny Stevens and Statutory Insurance Partner Mick Dwyer in the firm's Adelaide office. Penny and Mick bring unique qualities to the Board and will be assets in contributing to the success of the firm in the future.
