Sparke Helmore expands Newcastle based construction team announcing two new partners09 August 2016
Sparke Helmore Lawyers has strengthened the construction law and projects capability in its Newcastle office with the internal promotion of two partners, Martin Taylor and Darren Rankine and the appointment of senior associate, Michelle Larin to the team led by partners Paul Tobin and Richard Anicich.
Martin has been with the firm since February 2013 following his return from seven years working in London where he gained experience from working on large infrastructure projects across Europe and the Middle East. Martin is an expert in drafting and negotiating complex documentation for the delivery of construction and infrastructure projects and procurement of associated services.
Darren joined the firm in May 2011 and advises public and private sector clients, developers and contractors on documenting and negotiating construction and infrastructure projects principally in the commercial, aged care and tertiary education sectors.
The Newcastle based team has also welcomed Michelle Larin as a senior associate. Michelle specialises in advising on and preparing construction and infrastructure contracts and procurement arrangements together with claims administration and dispute resolution. She has spent the last six years with the Sydney based construction team in one of Australia's leading firms, Clayton Utz.
Partner, Paul Tobin welcomed these additions to the team which serves not just Hunter based clients but many others operating on a national and global basis. He said: "Particularly with the level of construction and infrastructure investment occurring in the Hunter this expansion in our construction team and the Newcastle office means that we are well positioned to provide quality service to our clients and support the business to become the world-class Australian law firm we strive to be."
