Mining & Resources
Supporting the industry to navigate challenge and complexity
Large-scale mining and energy projects have unique characteristics—they have long lifecycles, multiple stakeholders and operate in a dynamic regulatory environment.
We assist mining, gas and energy companies to navigate the complexities of energy and resource law through the whole project lifecycle. Energy and natural resources clients seek our advice on issues ranging from exploration, regulatory approvals, environmental matters, landowner issues, native title and cultural heritage, through to mining and production activities, commodity sales and transportation.
We regularly act in the sale and acquisition of resources projects, including in due diligence investigations and preparing sales documentation.
Clients trust us to advise them on approval and operational issues. We offer strategic advice to obtain and modify approvals and assist in navigating the complexity of multiple approval strands with government, community and landowners.
We prepare legal documentation for energy and resources projects, including joint venture agreements, co-development agreements, coordination arrangements, conduct and compensation agreements, infrastructure agreements, s 31 native title agreements, sale and purchase agreements for assets and product sale and transportation agreements.
We support our clients to overcome environmental issues. We deal with land access and compensation issues with owners and occupiers of land, handle competing land uses and overlapping tenures, and negotiate water licensing and supply, and gas sales and transportation contracts.
We also negotiate access and compensation agreements, offer dispute resolution and, where necessary, act in proceedings and mediation in Court.
Our clients value our ability to represent them to government and landowners, and in their commercial negotiations, treat us as part of their team.
