Richard is the national leader of the Insolvency & Restructuring group and is a partner in the Commercial Disputes and the Construction, Projects & Infrastructure groups. He has more than 25 years experience in business law, insolvency, commercial litigation, insurance, risk management and dispute resolution.
With such broad commercial experience, Richard is recognised as a 'good tactician' with a reputation for advising clients with precision on their commercial issues.
Richard is an accredited specialist in commercial litigation (insolvency) and in business law. He is a member of the Law Society of NSW specialist accreditation advisory committee for commercial litigation. He has tutored in courses conducted by the AICD on topics such as director's duties, shareholders rights and contract law.
Richard acts for many insolvency practitioners as well as the financial services industry, creditors and corporate clients on insolvency administrations, credit and loss recovery, enforcement of securities, creditors' rights and business restructures. He has extensive experience in commercial disputes and disputes arising under the Trade Practices Act including contract and shareholder disputes, corporations' law issues, defamation, intellectual property issues such as copyright and confidential information and maritime claims.
In construction, projects & infrastructure, Richard adds value to the project formation and administration phases with his expertise in contract negotiation and drafting. He has presented a number of seminars on the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act and has acted as an adjudicator of claims under that Act. He has extensive experience in advising on the resolution of disputes in the construction industry and in providing practical advice regarding payment claims and other contract administration issues.
He has also acted for defendants in a variety of professional indemnity claims against engineers, architects and other service providers to the construction industry.
