New actuarial life tables released

Catharine Polldore, Lawyer

On 27 November 2009, the Australian Government Actuary released the 2005-07 Australian Life Tables.

The Tables, which are released every five years, detail the life expectancy of Australian males and females from birth to age 109. A major finding of the most recent actuarial report was the gap between male and female life expectancy has narrowed to the closest it has been for over 50 years. A male born today can expect to live 79.0 years and a female 83.07 years.
