Lachlan's commercial litigation, dispute resolution and insolvency practice spans multiple states and jurisdictions. He deals with a wide range of matters including significant and complex commercial and insolvency litigation, insurance litigation, construction disputes, as well as professional indemnity and negligence matters.
He regularly appears in all levels of New South Wales, Victorian and Federal courts and has dealt with matters in the Supreme Courts of Western Australia and Queensland. Lachlan regularly appears at mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
He also presents at seminars on conflict analysis, negotiation techniques and alternative dispute resolution, including the pre-litigation requirements under the Civil Dispute Resolution Act 2011 (Cth).
Lachlan works closely with a number of firms of insolvency practitioners at the manager and partner level and assists them in all aspect of insolvency administration.
He also works with a number of government agencies, insurers, individuals and corporations across a broad range of matters, including construction disputes, security of payment matters, general debt recoveries and other liability matters.
To protect and preserve the interest of investors, AET instructed us to advise on the trust arrangements and subsequently commence proceedings on behalf of AET in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Lachlan has a Bachelor of Economics, a Bachelor of Laws and a Diploma of Legal Practice. He is a NSW Law Society Accredited Specialist in Dispute Resolution.
Before joining Sparke Helmore, Lachlan worked at various firms specialising in commercial litigation, insolvency and plaintiff insurance litigation.
Lachlan is a competitive sailor and regularly competes in local weekend races, as well as large yachting and offshore races. He is also a rugby union tragic which has often led to more frequent than usual raids on his wine collection.
