David is a corporate and commercial lawyer with an accounting degree. He has focused solely on corporate and commercial law for more than 20 years with a particular slant towards advising on mergers, restructures, incorporations, partnerships, trusts, joint ventures, commercial contracting and funds management.
David's law and accounting qualifications enable him to provide clients with highly commercial and practical advice that takes into account financial and tax implications. His clients are mainly medium-sized enterprises in the property, development, construction, health care and professional services sectors and they value his strong service ethic as much as his ability to cut through to the issues that matter most to getting their projects over the line.
David's clients are primarily Hunter and mid-north coast based medium-sized enterprises.
"We have had a close relationship with David over the past 15 years, using David for all our M&A activity including a whole company restructure. We recommend David regularly to our own clients to complete business succession and shareholder documentation. He's very practical and doesn't get bogged down in the documentation, facilitating agreeable outcomes for all parties. One of the qualities I like of David is that he gets the job done, always. He has a quality team and gives his personal attention to the important planning and execution of strategy for the client." – Nicholas Hatherly, Managing Director, Australian Financial Risk Management Pty Ltd
"David has been working with The Monkeys Group of companies for a number of years, across corporate governance, property arrangements, supplier negotiation and business combinations. In all cases David has responded in a highly professional and timely manner, demonstrating a unique understanding of the ever-changing and sometimes challenging environment of creatively-led businesses. When required he has brought in other experts from the firm and in each case they have proven to be valuable assets in resolving matters. David is viewed not just as a supplier but a vital commercial partner to our businesses and has been a great sounding board to the businesses on a wide variety of matters." – Brandon Bisnette, Chief Financial Officer, The Monkeys Group
"We have had a long and constructive relationship, spanning corporate work, professional indemnity, property and commercial building construction, dissolution of entities/partnerships, SMSF, estate planning, tax and state government matters. David's experience allows him to grasp complex matters and to work with clients in a collaborative and inclusive way so that you don't feel at arm's length or not part of the process. David's questioning mind, communication skills, hard worth ethic, "whatever it takes" attitude and "what if" approach are very helpful . He is loyal, upfront, and has a good team of loyal people around him." – Tony Richmond, Principal, Crestwood Heights
