Colby is a solicitor and litigator who advises clients on matters involving workers' compensation, employers' liability, public liability, motor vehicle third party insurance and other general insurance matters. Colby also provides advice to employers following serious workplace incidents and defends employers when they are prosecuted for alleged workplace health and safety breaches.
Colby primarily advises insurers and employers with respect to their liability following workplace incidents. He represents clients in litigious matters before the Supreme Court, District Court, Magistrates Court and the WorkCover Conciliation and Arbitration Service. Colby also assists employers with investigations and prosecutions undertaken by Government authorities following serious workplace accidents.
Colby works with employers, insurers and their insureds. He also works closely with brokers and insurance professionals to assist in the claims management process.
Colby has a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from Murdoch University.
Colby joined the insurance litigation team at Jarman McKenna in August 2009, before the firm merged with Sparke Helmore in March 2017.
Colby enjoys Perth's great outdoors. He spends his spare time bike riding, hiking, walking his puppy and trying to keep fit and healthy. He also enjoys travelling and watching sport, and combines the two passions whenever he can—most recently he supported the Australian Olympic team in Rio.
