The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Australia is part of a global network spanning over 85 countries with more than 40,000 in-house counsel employed by more than 10,000 organisations. It is the peak national association representing the interests of in-house counsel working for corporations and government in Australia. ACC Australia works to provide its members and in-house lawyers, with the very best representation, advice, education and resources to further the profession.
National Conference and Awards
Each year ACC Australia hosts its National Conference and Australia Corporate Lawyer of the Year Awards (ACLAs). These awards recognise excellence in the provision of legal services and the contribution made by in-house lawyers whether in government or business legal departments.
Our involvement
Since 2016, Sparke Helmore has proudly sponsored the Government Lawyer of the Year award category at the ACLAs. The award recognises government lawyers who have shown highest excellence beyond the expectations in the provision of legal services, leadership, overall contribution and knowledge of their government department.
2022 event
Partner and National Practice Group Leader, Ben Dube, represented Sparke Helmore at the 2022 ACLAs award ceremony which was held in sunny Brisbane. He presented the award to winner—Marie Le Bras, General Counsel – Regional Development and Engagement at nbn Co Limited. Congratulations to Marie!
2023 event
The 29th in-house Legal National Conference and ACLAs was held in Canberra from 29-31 October and we once again sponsored the Government Lawyer of the Year Award. Finalists for the Government Lawyer of the Year category these were:
- Amy Rudolph, Deputy General Counsel, Victoria Gambling and Casino Control Commission
- Amy Salapak, General Counsel, WA Country Health Service
- Briony Lewis, Executive Director, Governance Legal and Strategic Operations, RMIT University
