Sparke Helmore Lawyers welcomes two new partners who will be based in our Sydney office—Scott McDonald, who joins our Corporate & Commercial Group, and Julian McGrath, who joins our Insurance Group.

Scott has more than 30 years' commercial litigation experience in complex commercial disputes, competition law, alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy, insolvency and white collar crime. He also has significant experience in the emerging fields of international commercial arbitration, cross-border disputes, and anti-bribery and corruption. He is regularly briefed by clients to appear in high-profile inquiries, investigations, Independent Commission Against Corruption and Royal Commissions. Scott, who has been named on the Best Lawyers in Australia list, was also recently appointed by the Attorney General as a part-time, Senior Member of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) in the Consumer and Commercial Division.

Julian has more than 24 years' experience in insurance law. He advises on first party property claims, professional indemnity claims, directors' and officers' claims, and complex liability and products liability claims for insurers. Julian also provides advice on policy coverage, defending contested declinatures, and on proceedings involving non-disclosure and under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth). He is also included on the Best Lawyers list.
