Professional indemnity claims are rarely straightforward. We work closely with insurers, insureds and brokers—being all too aware how sensitive these matters can be—and agree on a strategy based on the claim’s merits and likely path. 

We work with many major domestic, London and US-based insurers; these companies underwrite professional indemnity cover for a host of professionals—engineers, architects, designers, certifiers, financial planners, solicitors, barristers, tax advisors, accountants and other financial services professionals.  We get in early to understand the exposure and the issues, so we can quickly achieve a result. We provide advice on coverage, defence and investigations, complex liability, coverage disputes and damages.

We help with corporate insurance policy wording, operational issues, risk management, good faith, conditions, exclusions, premium loading and endorsements. In transactions, our expertise covers insurance clauses, risk transfer, caps on liability and due diligence. Reinsurers seek us out to discuss contract drafting and interpretation. Sometimes we're drawn into claims advice, complex coverage disputes, commutations and schemes of arrangement.
